St John's Anglican Church Mona Vale is family living under the Lordship of Christ seeking to make a difference for eternity together.
St John the Baptist Anglican Church was established as a church plant from Manly in 1871 with the explicit intention of preaching repentance in the name of Jesus Christ and pointing the people of Pittwater to the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. The present building was completed in 1907, and the people who meet regularly continue that tradition to this day.
Corporate Worship
We gather regularly to remind ourselves of God’s reality, to engage with him, to listen to him, to encourage each other and celebrate who we are in Christ.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the Day approaching”. (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Rich personal devotional life
We are convinced that a personal relationship with Jesus is vital to a healthy Christian life
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”. (John 15:5).
Joyous fellowship
Being Christian is about a new relationship with Jesus as a member of his family. We recognise the priority of meeting with each other in more intimate contexts to pray for each other, to read the Word together and to express our faith in Christ and lovingly hold each other accountable.
“But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today’, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness”. (Hebrews 3:13)
Serving with our gifts
Being Christian means serving Christ with the gifts he has given to us. This can take many forms
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good”. (1 Corinthians 12:7)
Gracious witness
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15)
